Julian is a Staff Specialist Renal and Transplant physician at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and a clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney Medical School.
Julian completed his medical degree at Newcastle University, his physician training at the St George Hospital, and undertook nephrology training in several tertiary units including Royal North Shore Hospital, St George Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Wollongong Hospital. He went on to complete a fellowship in transplantation at RPA and a PhD at the University of Sydney. During his PhD, he simultaneously completed a Masters in Bioethics. He is an active member of the nephrology (ANZSN) and transplant societies (TSANZ), and his research has been presented at national and international conferences, and published in leading medical journals.
In addition to transplantation, Julian has a strong interest in hypertension, acute kidney injury, diabetic kidney disease, and the balanced management of chronic kidney disease in patients with complex comorbidities, including dialysis. He likes to think his practice is both “evidence-based” and “patient-centred”, working closely with diverse patients to tailor management plans that meet their specific health and cultural needs.
