Louisa is a General Physician and Nephrologist at Canterbury Hospital, Clinical lecturer in The Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney and at The George Institute for Global Health.
Louisa completed her Nephrology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Concord Repatriation General Hospital and maintains close ties with both centres. She has a keen interest in all areas of nephrology but particularly in Chronic Kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy, hypertension and renal supportive care.
Louisa's research interest is in understanding the epidemiology of chronic kidney disease its progression and complications, particularly in the diabetic population. She has authored many papers on this topic and has presented her work at both local and international conferences. In addition to this, she has an active interest in innovation in healthcare and medical education.
Louisa teaches the Population Medicine Module at the University of Sydney Medical School. In addition, she has directly trained and mentored internal medicine candidates preparing for the national entrance examinations for specialist training. Louisa enjoys serving the local community in her capacity as a nephrologist, in improving health literacy and in turn health outcomes for her patients.
Louisa is fluent in Arabic.
